Safe Haven

In case you need a reminder, Safe Haven is being released this week. I’ll be honest, I’m not really a chick flick kind of girl. Except for The Notebook… because of Ryan Gosling. I mean HELLO, Ryan! Yeah, my favorite Nicholas Sparks movie…. EVER. In August, Relativity Media and Universal sent me to Southport, North Carolina to do a set visit and interview author Nicholas Sparks. I also met Josh Duhamel (hotter in person which doesn’t seem possible), and Julianne Hough (who is such a cutie). It was my first time doing anything like this and I never would have…

My Version of Cleopatra

My Version of Cleopatra

Does anyone remember Cleopatra? I used to watch that movie with my mother when I was young, and I got to thinking about it today. I have always loved Elizabeth Taylor. I think she was extraordinarily beautiful and talented. But I remember a particular scene in the movie when she has herself rolled up in a rug to be presented to Caesar. As he unfurls the rug she gracefully rolls out at his feet and strikes a seductive pose. It was elegant and artistic. As a little girl I fantasied one day doing that. I could never…

What Distracts Me Wednesdays – Pandorify, wait what?

What Distracts Me Wednesdays – Pandorify, wait what?

I’ve often talked about how much I like music. I even wrote another What Distracts Me Wednesdays about Palladia recently. I almost always have some tunes playing whether it’s at home, on my commute from hell, or while in the cube. You might say music makes me tic. I have a music library that, well, would shock most. I can remember my the first album I bought with my own dough, Devo – Freedom of Choice, which was quickly followed up with AC/DC’s Back in Black (a must have for everyone into music). I also remember the very first CD I purchased, the Talking Heads…

Lowering Expectations

What constitutes a love song? I was listening to the radio this morning and they were talking about the latest love songs. What does that mean? Are they talking about traditional love songs? The sappy ones about how people love each other? What about the ones about unrequited love? Don’t those count? Or the ones about hate? Isn’t hate just another form of love inverted yet dependent upon the visceral? How about this? Isn’t this a form of love? How many people equate love and sex? So what about those lyrics? Do they count? Following, if love is…

Skid Row Got Slaughtered By Warrant

*This post is inspired by the awesome Alyssa who blogs at The Wild, Weird World Of Us. Check out this post, this one, and this one. I used to love Guns N’ Roses big time when I was a teen and kind of forgot about all the other bands I would listen to until Alyssa left a comment mentioning bands like Slaughter, Warrant, and Skid Row. OMG, I loved these guys and it also brought back memories of being obsessed with the magazine Metal Edge. I saw Warrant (RIP Jani Lane 1964-2011) along with Ratt and Great White when I…

Ready To Rock!

Ready To Rock!

The very first concert I went to was to see Whitesnake at the L.A. Forum. I went with my dad and was so excited. Pretty soon the lights went down, the crowd cheered, and I thought it was so cool how everyone was there for one reason. The music. My next most memorable concert was seeing Guns N’ Roses opening up for The Rolling Stones at the L.A. Coliseum. My dad and I were literally in the nosebleed section, up at the absolute very top of the arena. Before I knew it, Axl Rose was singing Welcome To The Jungle…

Best. Picture. Ever.

Best. Picture. Ever.

I had planned on writing a loooooong post about my experience with author Nicholas Sparks and the amazing time I had with fellow writers. Then I thought it would take forever to write and to be honest, I’m still taking all of this in. I thought it would be better to capture my Safe Haven set visit into smaller posts instead. So, for the first post I give you this photo. I’m actually not sure where we were when this was taken because all I heard was “We’re going into this building to do a meet and great with Josh…
